kindergarten program

Park Street runs a funded kindergarten program and employs a trained Kindergarten Teacher. The teacher delivers an extensive program that meets the needs of children 3.5-5 years. The program focuses on all areas of development and works towards school readiness. The program runs from 9:00am to 4:30 Monday to Friday during the school terms. Park Street continues to offer a program during the school holidays, the school holidays program is run by qualified Educators.

The kindergarten staff provide an Emergent- play-based learning environment. The open-ended learning experiences encourage self expression through creativity, solitary and interactive dramatic play which allows the child to explore the world around them, express their interpretation of society and develop self-esteem and friendships, and the opportunity for the children to work within their ability and challenge themselves without failure. The children are continuously being extended through interaction with each other, the educators, the environment and planned or incidental experiences. The Kinder program follows the Victorian Early Years and Development Framework; individual transition reports are written collectively by the teacher and parents and are then forwarded to each child’s chosen school. All children enrolled in the Park St Kindergarten program are required to enrol for a minimum of 15 hours and are a funded kinder place.
